A Network for and by Refugee Resettlement Stakeholders.
Every day, an increasing number of individuals are forced to flee their countries because of persecution, war and violence. The challenge of how to be most effective in resettling and integrating refugees is a paramount issue that stakeholders have been working to address incongruently. Despite the development of innovative programs and ground-breaking research, present-day resettlement practices in the US and Europe are in part, outdated. This has resulted in a mix of methods, some of which are appropriate and effective within the national context, others which are not. The Transatlantic Refugee Resettlement Network (TRRN) creates mechanisms to enhance stakeholders' communication, connection, and collaboration with one another. We seek to accelerate the acquisition and sharing of knowledge across borders and thereby highlight and promote best practices, new research, and promising innovative ideas. Through this exchange of experience in person and virtually, practitioners gain access to resources and methods beyond what they may have initially thought of or encountered.
Resettlement is effective when a person or family has all their basic needs met, has a sufficient and sustainable livelihood, and integrate to become part of, as well as a positive contributor to their new community and country of residence.
A network of communication, dialog and mutual support across the Atlantic to support refugees in resettlement and integration and the professionals who work with them.
